DWF was pleased to attend and support the Filipino Canadian Lawyers Network and Amici Curiae’s panel discussion, “Diversity on the Courts and Tribunals: Why it Matters.”
The event brought together distinguished members of the legal community for an engaging and important conversation on the role diversity plays in strengthening public confidence in our justice system and ensuring that courts and tribunals reflect the communities they serve.
The panel featured:
Melissa Gillespie, Chief Judge of the Provincial Court
Mylene De Guzman, Provincial Court Judge
Luningning Alcuitas, Chair of WCAT
We were honoured to join members of the judiciary from all levels of court, including Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal, Leonard Marchand, as well as Niki Sharma, Attorney General of British Columbia.
We are especially proud that DWF partner Franco Cabanos serves as Vice-President of the Filipino Canadian Lawyers Network, an organization that continues to foster meaningful dialogue, professional development, and greater representation within the legal profession.
Thank you to the organizers, speakers, and attendees for contributing to such a thoughtful and impactful discussion.
