Nick Patterson

Profile

Nick is an associate in DWF’s Toronto office and maintains a general commercial litigation practice.  He regularly advises clients on complex property related disputes, cross-border litigation and enforcement of foreign judgments, bankruptcy and insolvency disputes, defamation claims, contractual disputes, misappropriation, and oppression claims.  Nick also has extensive experience in matters involving fraud litigation, asset tracing, injunctive relief, and internal investigations.

Known for his strategic approach to solving legal disputes, Nick strives to find practical and results driven outcomes for his clients. He has acted on behalf of large privately held corporations, shareholders and directors, individuals, insurers and small businesses.  Nick has experience before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

During law school, Nick developed strong advocacy skills through his involvement in the mooting and mock negotiation programs. He also volunteered at a Pro Bono Clinic advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, and at his law school’s Litigation Clinic where he advised students and local entrepreneurs on various business ideas. Prior to law school, Nick earned his B.A. (honours) from Toronto Metropolitan University.  Nick also obtained a certificate in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution from Harvard University.
