Swaleha Ahmad

Profile

Swaleha returned to DWF as an associate in 2026 following her call to the Alberta Bar. She maintains a general litigation practice, including insurance defence and professional liability matters.

She completed a four-month secondment at DWF during her articles with the organization responsible for administering the professional liability indemnity program for Alberta lawyers. While at the firm, Swaleha developed an appreciation for how different legal strategies can shape the direction of a dispute. Her approach to practice reflects this understanding, with an emphasis on considering each matter in its broader context and working collaboratively with clients to develop effective solutions.

Swaleha received her J.D. from the University of Alberta in 2025. During law school, she competed in the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot and volunteered with Student Legal Services. She also enjoyed being part of Law Show, where she found a creative outlet through acting, directing, and helping bring the annual production to life. Before attending law school, Swaleha spent more than four years working as a litigation legal assistant in Calgary. Her experience gave her an early understanding of the preparation, attention to detail, and client service required in legal practice and reinforced her passion for pursuing a career in law.

In her spare time, Swaleha enjoys spending time on her many hobbies, from nail art and dance classes to her latest knitting or crochet project. When she is not reading or catching up on the latest superhero or sci-fi release, she is happiest hosting friends and family or planning her next trip.
