Jenelle Westworth is a senior civil litigator with extensive experience acting for insurers, municipalities, public authorities, and private sector clients in complex litigation across Canada. Her practice is focused on municipal liability and public sector defence, insurance defence litigation, construction and infrastructure disputes, real estate and land use matters, professional negligence, environmental litigation, transportation and marine claims, health law disputes, defamation, and historical sexual abuse claims.
Her experience includes defending municipalities and other public sector entities in claims arising from roadway design, construction and maintenance, regulatory and by‑law enforcement, occupiers’ liability, sports and recreational facilities, and public infrastructure. This work frequently involves complex, multi‑party disputes with technical evidence and expert analysis. Jenelle also acts on sensitive and high‑exposure historical sexual abuse claims for institutional defendants, as well as defamation matters involving public bodies, professionals, and media‑related allegations.
She has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario and is recognized for a strategic, practical approach to litigation. Clients value her ability to distill complex technical and regulatory issues, exercise sound judgment, and develop litigation strategies tailored to operational realities and risk management objectives.
In addition, Jenelle is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs and conferences organized by legal, insurance, and risk management associations, where she presents on emerging issues in municipal liability, insurance law, and public sector risk.
